What this app collects, why it collects it, and what you can ask us to delete.

ByeByeDPI: DNS Lookup is published by VIVA RED SH.P.K. This policy explains what happens when you use its DNS tools, optional AI explanation, reports, and support form.

DNS lookups

When you look up a domain, the app sends that domain and the selected record types over HTTPS to the public resolver you choose: Google or Cloudflare. A comparison sends the same question to both. Those providers receive the query and the network information needed to answer it under their own privacy practices. The app does not change your device's DNS settings or route other device traffic.

Welcome pages

The app loads its first-run introduction from our own web address, the same address that serves the Privacy, Terms and Support pages. Each request carries the app identifier, your language and the platform, together with the technical information that every web request includes, such as your IP address.

The introduction request also carries numeric results of checks: whether the App Store country is Russia, whether cellular service is active, and whether any of the configured Yandex Maps, Yandex Navigator, Yandex, VK, Wildberries, Ozon or Gosuslugi URL schemes can be handled. The other apps are not opened. These observations are sent to our own hosted-flow address; they do not identify who you are or establish why you installed the app. They are used for the first-launch rating invitation. They do not change access to the free DNS tools. The app keeps one snapshot in memory for that process and does not store it in preferences or send a separate analytics report. Ordinary web infrastructure receives the request parameters; we do not treat them as purchase or authorization proof.

The three-step introduction explains DNS lookup, comparison and saved reports. All app features are free to use. Hosted pages may store cookies and website data on your device to remember website choices and sessions across app restarts. These remain separated by website origin. Loading again or finishing the introduction does not clear them; an explicit website sign-out or reset removes the relevant website state.

Information on your device

The app stores lookup history, favorites, theme, sound, and haptic preferences on your device, together with a small local flag recording whether the first-run introduction has been completed. You can clear history or delete your data in Settings. A separate durable flag records that the first-launch rating opportunity has been consumed. Updating the app, declining an invitation or returning from the store review request does not reset it. For an install without a previous marker, the app separately reads the App Store's verified original download history to avoid inviting users who already used a release before build 7. This fixed history threshold is not an environment check and does not affect the checks sent to the introduction. The bounded read does not refresh purchases or ask you to sign in. Its transaction details are not sent to the introduction or stored in app preferences. A JSON or PDF report is created on your device; it goes to a recipient only when you choose one in the iOS share sheet.

Optional AI and reports

If you tap Explain with AI and agree to that request, the selected domain, resolver, response status, up to 40 record values, and language are sent to our analysis service, which uses OpenAI as its model provider, to return an explanation. Permission applies to that request only; each new request asks again. You can decline and keep using all DNS tools. The explanation may be inaccurate; check important decisions against the DNS records. The service uses an installation identifier and a public signing key to verify requests and enforce usage limits. The private signing key stays in secure storage on your device.

If you choose to report an AI result, your report text and reason are stored with that installation identifier so we can investigate. Our backend also stores request nonces and usage counters for security and abuse prevention. It does not require an account or collect your name for DNS lookup or AI explanation. We do not use advertising or cross-app tracking in this app.

Retention and deletion

History and favorites remain on your device until you clear them or use Settings → Delete my data. Server reports, request nonces, and installation usage records remain until you use Settings → Delete my data. That action deletes them and the local history and signing key. A minimal retired installation identifier and public key remain on the server to prevent reuse of a deleted identity and to make deletion retries safe. Aggregate usage counts that do not identify an installation may remain. If the service is unavailable, the app shows a failure and does not claim deletion succeeded; you can retry or request help through Support.

Support requests

When you use the Support form, you provide a reply address and message, and optionally your name and subject. These details are used to answer your request and handle any privacy or deletion question. You can ask to access or delete support correspondence through the same form.

Your choices

You can use DNS lookup, comparison, history, favorites, and exports without AI. You can remove individual history items, clear history, or use Settings → Delete my data to remove local and associated server data as described above. For privacy questions, contact us through Support.
